John D Wood are a well-established Commercial Property Consultant with a superb name and huge amount of brand recognition throughout the U.K. Our long established brand evokes a sense of history and quality, while giving an immediate sense of confidence to our clients who feel secure and well advised when dealing with a firm with such a long and well established history.
The core of the business is commercial property management. We have a team of both property and facilities managers as well as accountants who are dedicated to dealing with the managed properties, including service charge where applicable. We have an unprecedented knowledge of property management and if we are unable to manage the property in-house then we know exactly what is required in procuring these services for clients. Clients know how we work and appreciate our honesty if we are unable to manage the property in-house and are more than comfortable with us procuring property and facilities management companies on their behalf.
We also have a lettings team, investment team, professional team and valuation team. We mix experience with youth, ensuring that we have a good combination of young and hungry employees eager to provide a quality service to our clients and experienced qualified surveyors to ensure this is delivered.

After learning the trade at Pearl & Coutts under the guidance of David Pearl, at the young age of 25, Ray Bloom purchased the Mayfair based Commercial Property Consultants John D Wood. Since buying the company in late 2009, Ray has built up and attracted a host and wide range of new clients priding the business on being a one stop shop for commercial property clientele. After winning a management contract on a mixed development scheme in New Cairo, Egypt in early 2011, the company broke into the international property market.
Ray has participated in the Property Week podcast hosted by radio presenter James Max, giving his views, opinions and expertise on the property market. He has also been nominated for numerous awards for his contribution and excellence in the property market. In February 2012, Ray won the ‘Young Entrepreneur of the Year’ award at the Young Norwood Property Awards.
Ray has been Young Patron of UJIA, and was actively involved in the young CST property group. Ray is now involved in fund raising for both Camp Simcha and Chai Cancer charities.
Ray is a very keen sports fan with a love of all sports but most notably an avid Tottenham Hotspur fan. Ray is married with two young sons.
John D Wood is a company with an incredible history and provenance. It dates back over 140 years to 1872. When it was founded by the young entrepreneur John Daniel Wood. He was a remarkable and visionary man who started the company at the age of 23 and finally retired in 1928.
The first premises of the company were situated in Mount Street, London W1. Mount Street in the late 19th Century was a street of rather dilapidated. Georgian houses which included the Parish Workhouse. Whilst becoming much smarter at the Berkeley Square end, housing the Coburg Hotel, later renamed “The Connaught” at the outset of the Great War.
John D Wood expanded rapidly. Advertising regularly in Country Life in the early 1900’s – an arrangement that continues to this day. The post war decade saw the business develop an exclusive reputation for dealing with high-end property as well as successful and illustrious clients. This era included the sale of Dorchester House, Park Lane for £400,000 to the McAlpine family who rebuilt it as the Dorchester Hotel.
In 1930 John D Wood moved to new headquarters in Berkeley Square. A mere stone’s throw from where our HQ is on Berkeley Street. Today during this period in Berkeley Square, the company even boasted current Prime Minister David Cameron’s late father as a director.
Commercial and development work became an important part of the company’s business in the 1950’s and 1960’s. In the late 1980s the residential arm of the Company was spun off and now boasts offices around the U.K. advertising and perpetuating the name John D Wood.
Now John D Wood work as a Commercial Property Consultants . The commercial property sector continues to grow from strength to strength, with the London based practice handling a wide range of services. The services among others cover commercial management, lettings agency, investment agency and professional work throughout the United Kingdom.
